Simply head to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and you’ll find a whole market for matchmaking. Similar markets are popping up in many parks throughout China. Parents go to a park and write their child’s dating profile on a piece of paper, hang it up on a tree or along the ground amongst other profiles, and wait for other parents or applicants to speak with them. Some parents are very particular about certain aspects of their child’s potential spouse, such as where he or she resides, what their zodiac sign is and even what their blood type is. However, some parents turned matchmakers feel desperate after their children reach a certain age or fail to meet a certain social status and have almost no criteria for a potential spouse.
