Why not, another extravagant vineyard lunch? Another fantastic recommendation from friend Matt, I believe.
The Table Restaurant set on the De Meye wine farm in Stellenbosch, wine country. A nice 20 minute drive from downtown Cape Town.
The Table hosts beautiful lunches using produce grown and gathered from their kitchen garden, as well as other ingredients sourced locally such as pastured raised meat, farm eggs, olive oil and goats cheese.
Three course set menu (about $30 /person US $)– served family-style on mismatched antique platters. Tables are spread out on the lawn, a tree apiece to give guests a sense of dining privately in some vast garden. Inside you will find their modest pantry stocked with homemade preserves, chutneys and pickles.
Menu today was:
Homemade sourdough bread and local creamery butter, locally grown and cured olives.
Garden greens, onion tartlet made with local cheddar
Yellow squash risotto, roasties, red cabbage slaw with homemade sour cream and pickled grapes
Fennel and cucumber salad
Dessert was pannacotta with raspberry coulis and farm passion fruit ice cream topped with pistachios!
