Leaving Aix today by train, heading North to Nice. Aix is a charming town, mazes of narrow streets, windows adorned with wood shutters to keep out the heat. Most of the buildings are painted in yellow hues, so when the afternoon sun hits you truly understand Picasso and Chagall's love of this place. The landscape is rather dry and Mediterranean. Silver leafed olive trees, pointy cypress, plane trees and shrubs of rosemary! Tomatoes are ripe so gazpacho and borotta are on all the menus. Here are a few shots to give you a sense of this beautiful place!
